My name is Ming Liang Dai and I am studying computer engineering at the University of Waterloo. I am currently in 3rd year and I hope to pursue a career in software development. I am excited to explore the various career opportunities that the technology industry has to offer and I hope to contribute my skills to meaningful projects that will pave the path to a bright, sustainable future.
As a software engineer intern at one of the big 4 accounting firms, I got the opporunity to work with talented senior software engineers and in a tech stack that I had no professional experience in before joining KPMG. I worked in both frontend and backend, allowing me to gain valuable experience in Vue and TypeScript as well as .NET and C#. Working at KPMG has refined my skills in software development and provided me the chance to work across various interesting projects including developing a DevOps solution that can dynamically configure a single frontend build to be deployable on multiple environments (production, development, UAT), reducing the frontend team’s total deployment time by 80%.
As a software engineer intern at a fast-paced and goal-oriented startup, my main responsibilities included developing both the frontend and backend of the new ambitious project that the company had using React and Node. In addition to that, I developed administrative functions using AWS Lambda to efficiently manage company databases and user accounts on a completely serverless environment.
As a frontend developer, my main tasks included building the dashboard portal for the company's clients using React. In addtition to that, I also got the opportunity to work with the OpenCV.js library to build a web camera app used for collecting photos for the company's 3D foot scans.
A transaction tracking web app for a virtual lemonade stand. It is also a coding challenge for a React Frontend Developer position at one of the companies I interned at. Psst...I got the job!
